How it works
LocalBrain matches filenames first, then scans the contents of your notes, and ranks what it finds so the closest matches come first. Nothing is uploaded. There is no remote index and no query leaves your device.

Search is for when you know what you are looking for. When you do not, the app surfaces related notes and connections as you work, and compiled context pages gather everything about a project in one place, so a note you never searched for can still find you.
